Macroinvertebrate study at Nora Hughes

During our last couple of Monday meetings the cadets have examined Nora Hughes Lake in order to determine how healthy the ecosystem is.  They conducted a site survey examining the physical components of the lake and its surroundings to identify any impacts that human activities have had on it.  The cadets then completed a macroinvertebrate survey, where they sorted through lake water and mud to find, classify and record any invertebrates.

Here’s a few photos from the session.
